One Foundation Gains Public Status |

Jan. 11th, 2011, an exciting day for all. On this day, Shenzhen
One Foundation launched an opening ceremony at Shenzhen Civil Center, marking
its successful transformation to a foundation allowed to raise fund from the
public. It’s seem as an
important step taken by China’s civil departments to promote reform in social
organization management and facilitate the development in social welfare. It is
also the common aspiration of the One Foundation team and all caring family
members.
In the afternoon,
at the opening ceremony in Shenzhen, the Shenzhen municipal government Mayor Xu
Qin, deputy mayor Chen Gaihu, the Chief of Shenzhen Municipal Civil Affairs
Bureau Liu Runhua, Director of Shenzhen Administration of Nongovernmental
Organizations Ma Hong, and 10 representatives from Shenzhen One Foundation
Board, the board of supervisors and friends from media, other distinguished
guests shared the moment through a live broadcast.

At the opening
ceremony, Deputy Mayor Chen Gaihu congratulated and welcomed the founding of
Shenzhen One Foundation. As the first non-governmental public foundation,
Shenzhen One Foundation is an important part to implement and promote reforms
in the public sector. The deputy mayor also expressed his hope that the
foundation will grow and play a bigger role in developing philanthropy.

Jet Li, the founder
of One Foundation, expressed his gratitude to all for their support from the
bottom of his heart. First of all, he thanked the State Council, Ministry of
Civil Affairs, the Chinese Red Cross, the Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau, in
particular Shenzhen Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau and Shenzhen City Government,
for their consistent support; Then he thanked all family members from across
the globe; then he thanked the foundation’s team for the tireless pursuit of perfection
and continuous dedication. Jet Li also thanked presenting business leaders for
their support. Meanwhile, Jet Li hoped family members can come to know more
about the foundation and show more support. Being an independent public
foundation is a new beginning, but also a tougher challenge. The foundation,
based on its fundamental principle to serve the public, will need the
understanding, support as well as supervision from all walks of life.

The Executive Director Mr. Wang Shi also gave a speech at the opening. He
thanked all for their support in granting the foundation public status and
hoped the foundation can grow further to promote the development of
philanthropy in China.
When the red curtain was finally lifted,
the foundation’s independent
account for public fund raising was unveiled. Amid exciting atmosphere, the
foundation accepted its first donation from a young couple.

In his speech, Director of Beijing Normal
University One Foundation Philanthropy Research Institute Mr. Wang Zhenyao said
Shenzhen One Foundation is a milestone in China’s philanthropic development, it’s a big step taken. In the past few
years, the One Foundation project achieved outstanding results. The Red Cross
Society of China supports the work of newly established foundation. The Society
will continuously support the foundation’s development and work hand in hand with it
to make ordinary people’s life better and the society more harmonious.
