Rescue League distributing tents to villagers
Jan. 15th,
a batch of relief tents arrived at Yingjiang County in Yunnan Province. The
staff of One Foundation Rescue League travelled day and night to the site and
provided assistance in setting up the tents. These tents served as temporary
shelters for the affected people.
At the beginning
of 2011, two earthquakes measuring 4.6 and 4.8 scales respectively jolted
Yingjiang county, hundreds of aftershocks followed. After the disaster, One
Foundation Rescue League member, Yunnan Huofeng Rescue Team dispatched its
Dehong division into Pingyuan township, one of the most affected zones. Most of
the houses there had been severely damaged, people were sleeping outside in
fears of aftershocks.

Setting up the
tents
After learning
the situation, One Foundation immediately made a tent donation plan and
dispatched staff from the Rescue League to distribute the tents. Jan 15th,
when staff were teaching the villagers how to set up the tent, anther quake
struck. Some villagers talked about it quite lightly, saying they were starting
to get use to aftershocks.
The Yingjiang
government officials thanked our staff for their consideration and timely
response. The tents not only provided shelter, but also encouragement.
Recently, the
country experienced quakes of various magnitudes. More than 30 quakes hit
Yingjiang on Jan. 14th, the biggest one measuring 4.3 scale. Seismic
movements shifted from vertical to horizontal, that have further crippled
already damaged houses. The One Foundation Rescue League has alerted all member
teams to closely monitor weather conditions and disaster situations and keep
frequent contact with the headquarters.
