Chinese Concerned about Italian Earthquake as One Foundation Donates RMB 200,000 as Relief Fund
2009/4/17/ Friday

A M6.3 earthquake hit central Italy on April 6 and caused tremendous casualties and property damage. As the first Chinese non-governmental non-profit organization responding to the disaster, Jet Li One Foundation donated RMB 200,000 through the Chinese Red Cross Foundation to the Italian Red Cross as relief fund, and extended deep consolation through the latter to the people affected by the earthquake.

Natural disasters such as earthquakes are tragedies faced by all humanity and people should help each other regardless of their nationalities. In line with the concept of “One World, One Family”, One Foundation has been promoting the idea of “One Yuan each month and from each person for the charitable cause”. As such, this donation was from the daily savings made by the One Family, not earthquake relief fund allocated by the government. Hence, the relatively small sum of RMB 200,000 represents 200,000 caring hearts that are concerned about the Italian people.

Meanwhile, One Foundation would closely follow the development in the disaster area and make every effort to provide humanitarian assistance to the people affected by the Italian earthquake.
