One Foundation Team heads to Jiangyou

On May 18, the founder of the China Red Cross Society One Foundation, Jet Li led a huge team to Shifang City to deliver goods and supplies, totaling seven vehicles. The team returned to Chengdu at 8pm. Upon arrival Jet Li encountered a few people who had walked all the way to Chengdu. They came to Jet Li's side, exhausted, grabbing his hand tight: "We have heard that Jet Li to send supplies to the disaster area, but didn’t really expect to see you with our own eyes. We will go back and also called for close friends to join One Foundation to do something available for the people of disaster areas." Deeply touched, people on the occasion took a photograph.

That night, the team received information that sometime over the night in the Northern part of Jiangyou, a magnitude 6 aftershock would occur. Thus, the staff immediately contacted the local Red Cross staff and tried to find out the latest situation in Jiangyou.

According to reports, at 14:00 on the 18th, Jiangyou aftershocks have caused dozens of injuries and damages to ninety-percent of the houses in seven towns and townships, in addition to six bridges damaged. Landslides damaged a number of township roads, cutting off access. The local government has been undertaking a rapid rescuing, a large number of tents are urgently needed. The team drawn all the tents immediately from the second batch of material arrived in Chengdu on the 18th and after conferring with the Sichuan Red Cross, decided to send them to Jiangyou on the 19th. China Red Cross One Foundation founder Jet Li will go to Jiangyou carring the materials to erect tents for the local victims in the earthquake.
