On the afternoon of July 1, 2009, Indra Nooyi, Chairman and CEO of PepsiCo, together with Harry Hui, Greater China Chief Marketing Officer of PepsiCo, donated RMB 888,000 to One Foundation on behalf of Mountain Dew, famous brand of the world’s largest food and beverage company-PepsiCo, on site of Mountain Dew Dance Battle in the 798 art zone. One Foundation founder, renowned world movie star Jet Li accepted the donation.

On the donation ceremony, Indra Nooyi, Chairman and CEO of PepsiCo, handed the traditional Chinese style tablet with the donation amount inscribed on it, to One Foundation founder Jet Li on behalf of Mountain Dew, expressing the sincere will of Mountain Dew to work with One Foundation in promoting philanthropy. Mountain Dew wishes to help on the education project for younger generation, encourage them to broaden their horizons, be more creative, and work out their own way of life. Mountain Dew is one of the major brands of Pepsi beverage, which has a history of 69 years with a brand value of $6 billion. Mountain Dew honors the brand spirit as “Being proactive, break the normality and confront the challenge”, and it becomes the fastest growing carbonated soft drink brand in United States. Ms. Indra Nooyi, Chairman and CEO of PepsiCo, elaborated on the long-term value of the company-Performance with Purpose (which is to support the community while generating reasonable revenues): PepsiCo always attaches great importance to the Greater China market, and has long been active in fulfilling its social responsibility and participating in environmental protection and other philanthropic activities. As one of its major brands, Mountain Dew has achieved a pleasant growth here in China. I’m much honored today to donate to One Foundation on behalf of Mountain Dew, and I hope One Foundation and Mountain Dew can work together help more young people!”

One Foundation, founded by Jet Li, always calls on the young people to promote the philanthropy and work together for a better world. Mr. Jet Li highly appreciates the unremitting efforts made by Mountain Dew through years to establish the “global cultural platform for younger generation” and to inspire their creativity. He said: One Foundation appreciates much Mountain Dew’s support on the philanthropy. We will make sure that the donation be used properly. The brand spirit of Mountain Dew- “Being proactive, break the normality and confront the challenge” are the most valuable characteristics of the younger generation nowadays, and I also value this spirit personally. One Foundation would like to work with Mountain Dew to help more people. As for those grass-root activities held by Mountain Dew after it landed in China, which aimed to bridge the cultural gap between east and west, Jet Li said: as a Chinese pacing into the world, I’m very happy to see the efforts made by Mountain Dew to bridge the cultural gap between east and west. It helps more young people to broaden their horizons, be more creative, and work out their own way of life.
Speaking of the vision of cooperation with One Foundation, Harry Hui, Greater China Chief Marketing Officer of PepsiCo said: Nowadays young people are getting more creative. They need platform, more support and encouragement, to show their talent and step forward. One of the reasons for Mountain Dew coming to China, is to help the young Chinese people to have a platform to broaden their horizons, be more creative and show their talents. The idea of organizing Mountain Dew Dance Battle is also originated from this. Mr. Jet Li has always been the idol for Chinese young people. Mountain Dew shares the same idea as Mr. Jet Li, of caring for the younger generation and contributing to philanthropy. That’s why Mountain Dew chose to work with One Foundation and Mr. Jet Li this time.
