At the night of March1st, the “2008 Stars Love China” charity event was held in Shanghai hosted by SHANGHAI MEDIA GROUP, and spread round the globe through Dragon TV. Almost one hundred stars who have given back to charity participated in this party.

One of the most important thing events of the night was the establishment of partnership between SMG and the Red Cross Society of China Jet Li One Foundation Project. The founder of One Foundation Jet Li and the vice president of SMG, Teng Junjie went up on stage to exchange gifts and uncovered the plaque for the start-up of their partnership. 

“Enthusiasm is necessary, but heart is essential”

When asked why it is SMG to cooperate with, Jet Li said, “Every one of us is kind and merciful. One Foundation, with its concept of every one every month saving one yuan, dreams of passing the love of the Chinese to every corner of the world. SMG offers us a good platform to actualize that goal.”

 “It is very kind for SMG to hold this ceremoney by commending good, and arousing the merciful enthusiasm of the public. However, it is not enough to be enthusiastic; charity cause also calls for heart. Only with enthusiasm and heart can the charity cause develop well. One Foundation hopes that SMG as media, can supervise the charity on behalf of the public. In the year of 2007, there were 300 million RMB given to charity. Was the money used transparently and fairly, and that the money was spent for those in need? We need media like SMG to supervise the whole cause to ensure that every penny is spent efficiently. ”

Appreciating the concept and professional operation of One Foundation, SMG would make full use of its media sources such as broadcast and TV programs to help One Foundation spread the charity concept and push forward the charity cause. As for One Foundation, working with SMG is the beginning for a series of important cooperations that are to be established in 2008.
