From October 1, most parts of Hainan Province were heavily affected by rainstorm and flood which inflicted significant losses to local people. One Foundation has been following closely on the disaster since the very beginning, and allocated RMB 200,000 recently for disaster relief work. The donated money will be used for urgent disaster relief such as purchasing food and drinking water.
According to initial statistics from Ministry of Civil Affairs, as of 8 a.m. of October 7, 1.33 million people in Hainan Province had been affected by the disaster, 140,000 people were relocated, nearly 2,000 houses were destroyed or damaged, direct economic loss reached RMB700 million. One Foundation will continue to follow the development of this disaster, and assist relevant government divisions on further rescue work. One Foundation will also follow the disaster relief work of the affected areas in Hainan.
To provide humanitarian assistance against various natural disasters has always been one of the major missions of One Foundation. The money allocated this time comes from daily accumulation of One Family members. It is because of the continuous love and input by our family members that One Foundation can provide timely assistance to the affected areas when disaster occurs.
