“One Foundation Cup Charity Saloon Car Race” raises over US$101,000
The second “One Foundation Cup Charity Saloon Car Race” was held on May 25, 2008 at the International Circuit in Shanghai. Following the Sichuan earthquake of May 12, the One Foundation has continued to support those affected via direct fund-raising, donation of essential materials, and the establishment of an aid distribution command centre on the ground in the disaster area. The race was dedicated to disaster relief in Sichuan under the title of "Wen Chuan Gas Up".
One Foundation Star volunteers Stanley Tong, Boyi Lin, Xuan Ye, Nan Sun, Jiale Wu, Juanhong Chen, Shanshan Li, Qi Gao, Jing Liang, Hongyin Liu, Hongmei Mai and Jing Wu all competed in the race. In addition Lin Xinru and Zhi-Wen Wang took part as cheerleaders alongside One Foundation Founder Jet Li who led the first lap.

Ten thousand messages of support for survivors
Organisers collected over 10,000 signatures and messages of sympathy from spectators at the event. In a symbolic event all those present signed the official race banner to offer a blessing for the suffering people of Sichuan. Prior to the race, Jet Li and all of the celebrity volunteers personally wrote their own dedications to the victims on the banner.which will now be taken to the disaster area by the One Foundation.
To further demonstrate their commitment to the One Family concept of one person donating one Yuan per month spectators took part in a mass donation of RMB1 each to the One Foundation. By simultaneously sending the short text message “1” to the official donation number 1-1069999309 from their mobile phones, members of the audience raised a further $2,000.

Over RMB 700,000 (US$101,000) raised for disaster relief
After six laps of competition, the women's race was won by supermodel Juanhong Chen, with Hong Kong artist Shan-Shan Li coming in second and Jing Liang taking third place. In the men’s race Hong Kong star Jiale Wu took champion’s honours for the second year running with Dream Team member Hongyin Liu taking second place and Gao Qi coming in third. On the winners’ podium all the award-winning stars lifted their hands to the sky in a symbolic gesture to comfort the souls of those killed in the quake and to encourage the survivors to continue to show their inspiring courage to the rest of the world.
The race raised over RMB700,000 (US$101,000) for the One Foundation which will be used exclusively for providing aid to the Sichuan disaster areas. All the star volunteers reaffirmed their commitment to stand by their suffering compatriots in the Sichuan disaster area and to make every effort to help them rebuild their lives.

Giving an update on the situation in the disaster areas following his visit to Chengdu on 17th May the founder of the One Foundation and international film star, Jet Li, said “ The One Foundation is committed to a long-term sustained relief effort in the earthquake zone.” He added “I encourage everyone to support the One Foundation One Family concept in which One person devotes One Yuan per month every month. If we all make charity a habit in our daily lives then we can change the whole world as one family.”
In a powerful and emotional appeal in support of the One Foundation Zhi-Wen said "Today we are donors. However, none of us know whether one day we may become the recipients. Like a family saving for the future, only with continual preparation and accumulation of funds in good times can we hope to cope with sudden and unexpected disasters when they arrive. I am proud to be a fund volunteer, and will always be."
